Abstract
A novel self-adaptive color image encryption scheme with exchange strategy is proposed. The 2D skew tent map is used to generate chaotic sequences to exchange the 4 higher bits part and the 4 lower bits part at half-pixel level with respect to the red, green, blue color components of the plain-image. The resulted three base color components are combined horizontally and encrypted simultaneously then to reduce the correlations among the three base color components. Moreover, self-adaptive diffusion process is adopted to encrypt the red, green, blue components in a cross way. The security and performance of the proposed image encryption scheme have been analyzed. All the experimental results show that the proposed scheme is secure and effective for practical application.
