International Journal of Computer

AI Policy for editors
The utilization of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies within the journal editorial process must
adhere to strict confidentiality standards. A submitted manuscript is to be regarded as a confidential
document. Editors are advised against uploading the manuscript or any part thereof into a
generative AI tool, as such actions may infringe upon the authors’ confidentiality and proprietary
rights. If the manuscript contains personally identifiable information, this may also constitute a
breach of data privacy rights.
This confidentiality obligation extends to all communications regarding the manuscript, including
notification or decision letters, which may contain sensitive information about the manuscript or the
authors. Consequently, editors should refrain from uploading such correspondence into AI tools,
even solely for purposes of language enhancement or readability improvements.
Peer review constitutes the cornerstone of the scientific ecosystem, and SSRG upholds the highest
standards of integrity in this process. The management of the editorial evaluation of scientific
manuscripts involves responsibilities exclusively entrusted to humans. The use of generative AI or AI-
assisted technologies by editors to aid in evaluating or making decisions about manuscripts is
prohibited, as the critical thinking and original judgment required are beyond the scope of such
technologies. Moreover, reliance on AI tools poses risks of generating erroneous, incomplete, or
biased conclusions regarding the manuscript. Editors are responsible and accountable for all aspects
of the editorial process, including final decisions and communication with authors.
According to SSRG’s AI author policy, authors are permitted to employ generative AI and AI-assisted
technologies during the writing phase prior to submission, solely for enhancing language and
readability. Such use must be transparently disclosed in accordance with SSRG’s Guide for Authors,
with disclosures typically included in a dedicated section preceding the references. Should an editor
suspect that an author or reviewer has violated these AI policies, they are obliged to notify the
publisher.
It is important to note that SSRG owns proprietary AI-assisted technologies that conform to the
RELX
Responsible AI Principles, such as those employed during the screening process for completeness,
plagiarism detection, and reviewer selection. These internal or licensed tools maintain author
confidentiality and are subjected to rigorous bias assessments while adhering to data privacy and
security standards.
Furthermore, SSRG actively promotes the integration of new AI-driven technologies designed to
assist reviewers and editors in the editorial process. We continue to develop and adopt in-house or
licensed solutions that uphold the confidentiality and data privacy rights of authors, reviewers, and
editors.
