Abstract -
The reason behind evolution of our concept-Popularity of wireless sensor network that consist of nodes that can communicate with each other without centralized authority. This all is possible due to concept of MANETs which have two important properties i.e. dynamic topology due to which it does not require of centralized administration. Sometimes nodes are loosely coupled nodes due to which issue of dishonest and noncooperative nodes are caused . By which the problem of security has been arise like packet dropping, bandwidth, various types of security attacks. Denial of service is one of the important categories due to which all important attacks are categories i.e. Black hole and Gray hole. In this paper we were discussing about black hole characteristics, types, techniques for detection and prevention of black hole.
