Abstract -
Face recognition is one of the most relevant applications of image analysis. It’s a true challenge to build an automated system which equals human ability to recognize faces. Although humans are quite good identifying known faces, we are not very skilled when we must deal with a large amount of unknown faces. The computers, with an almost limitless memory and computational speed, should overcome human’s limitations. Facial expression of a person which can be used for various projects like estimation of human interaction through webcam and computer graphics animation. Automatic recognition of people is a challenging problem which has received much attention during recent years due to its many applications in different fields. Face recognition is one of those challenging problems and up to date, there is no technique that provides a robust solution to all situations. This paper tried to gather much of the mathematical foundations of the approaches reviewed aiming for a self-contained work, which is, of course, rather difficult to produce.
