Abstract -
The identity of the person is represented with various modes such as photographic image, caricature, portraits, composite or sketch. The objective of face sketch system is to generate a face image when no other source of information is available and to develop a computer system capable of interactively generating sketch of known or unknown individual from the description. Generating face sketch from description is challenging task because of variation in face features, face size and lighting conditions. Creating a drawing of someone’s face requires considerable efforts, high artistic skill and practice and is usually a job of an artist. The objective of this paper is to study methods of the face sketch drawing like manual system such as sketch artist, identi-kit, photo-fit and software systems. The study also performs comparative analysis of these face composite generation system. The computerized software system overcomes the limitations of manual system. The study shows that computerized systems are more effective than manual system for face composite generation, but still there are challenges to generate face sketch similar to the face sketch generated by the sketch artists. The composite naming rate is very low, in this paper, we have proposed evolutionary algorithm based method for face composite generation.
