Abstract -
Mobile ad-hoc networks do not have a centralized structure. The nodes are connected without wires and are free to move independently in any direction. Thus routing has become challenging issues in these networks. This paper has presented a review on routing techniques for MANETs. Numerous protocols for routing have been proposed so far in order to find an optimistic technique which is applicable in all areas of MANETs. But review has shown that the majority of algorithms are still suffered from the various limitations. The effect of failures during the data transmission has not been considered in the existing research. The majority of techniques for ad-hoc networks just determines the path and transmits the data which leads to packet drop in case of failures, thus resulting in low reliability.Thus the hybrid swarm intelligence techniques are required for improving the QoS of the given network.
