Abstract -
A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a group of sensors that are geographically distributed over a sensing field. Sensors monitor the area, gather information about the state of the sensing field and route this information back to the base station. Actuators react to this information by performing appropriate actions. WSNs are growing at a tremendous pace, just like the exploding evolution of Internet. Supporting quality of service (QoS) will be of critical importance for pervasive WSNs that serve as the network infrastructure of diverse applications. In this paper, we study the QoS requirements for a WSN and thus provides a survey on the various available QoS routing protocols.
