Abstract -
in the world of image processing domain, removal of high density salt and pepper noise always is a prominent area for research. In our proposed system, a novel algorithm for removal of salt and pepper noise is presented with colour images rather than gray scale images by separation red- green- blue plane of colour image. In this algorithm, we have applied modified design based unsymmetrical median filter (MDBUTMF) on each plane, if the processing pixel of a particular plane is noisy, then check the neighbours pixel are either‘0’s or ’255’ or both then replace the noisy pixel with mean of the window. In another scenario, if some of the pixels are noisy then these noisy pixels are replaced by the novel trimmed median filter. The performance of the system is analysed and Simulation results for colour image, the proposed scenario yields better results over conventional median filter in terms of both Peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), mean square error(MSE) and image enhancement factor(IEF) , showing the effectiveness.
